Come to one of our open evenings

Would you like to

  • Toot on a tuba?
  • Honk on a horn?
  • Slide down a trombone?
  • Conquer the cornet?

Here’s your chance!

Who can come?

Everyone is welcome at Penrith Town Band, from age seven and up, and there is no upper age limit. You don’t have to be able to read music. We do limit the number of places on each open evening, and we ask that children attend with an adult.

Three or four times a year, Penrith Town Band holds open evenings. We introduce children and adults to the delights of playing in our local brass band.

What do we do?

The open evenings are your chance to:

  • see and hear the band in action
  • have a short group lesson from our conductor on the basics of brass playing
  • try out all the instruments of the band, assisted by our players
  • meet band members of all ages and abilities

If you enjoy the open evening you can sign up to join the band and receive (free of charge):

  • lessons
  • a high quality loan instrument
  • membership of the training band, and
  • your band uniform

What are you waiting for?

The teamwork and enjoyment of playing in a brass band leads to all kinds of new adventures. We see new players gaining the confidence to perform in front of great audiences. They build musical friendships that last a lifetime. Sometimes whole families end up joining us, as parents see what fun their children are having! Our open evenings are the first step to discovering what brass bands can offer.

Where and when?

We hold the open evenings at our rehearsal rooms in Penrith Conservative Club (in Crown Square, next to the main Post Office) [link to map]. The evenings start at 6:30pm and run for approximately one hour. To book your place on the next available open evening please get in touch:
